Multiple Intelligences in Motion: A lively workshop in Arts Integration for Adults
Aug 18-21 *REGISTER NOW*
We've been receiving lots of inquiries about this four-days of fun, so, in greater detail:
Concept-based brain-compatible dance:
Each morning, we'll do two sample classes in concept-based creative dance, across a variety of ages, and interwoven with reading, math, science, language arts.
We'll make connections among social, emotional and physical learning across the lifespan.
Arts integration across disciplines:
Each afternoon is a little different, as we explore story making and storytelling, creating dramatic tableaux, using math to do some visual art, and finding ways to bring together public art and integrative learning. It's like camp for grown ups!
Guest teachers and field trips:
We'll be trained in the usage of fabulous Arts for All equipment by inclusive recreational art instructor Patty Prather,
Kelly Thibodeaux, fiddler and teaching artist will have us all playing tunes on our own little fiddles in one hour,
One of the founders of Magnet Arts Elementary School, Gwen Curran (see this month's newsletter article "Meet the Board Member") will come in to enliven the local and national history of arts integration,
We'll take a field trip to the UO Art museum to learn some visual thinking strategies and gain experience leading inquiry-based discussions that promote critical thinking, social learning and arts appreciation.
This is a three-credit course, offered through Lane Community College. Last year's participants included classroom teachers, college students, reading specialists, dancers, preschool directors and teachers and home-schooling parents. And this year, we'll widen the scope to connect to a variety of interests - in the arts, education, the sciences, and the humanities - Join us.
